Watercolor Step 2 – a course of 4 classes which, together with Watercolor Step 1, covers the basics of painting with Watercolors!  You can take both of these courses in order or, if you have already had some basics elsewhere, just start in with Step 2 right off the bat. You can go back later and take Step 1 if you feel like you need to fill in some blanks – we offer them alternately all year long.

Whereas the main goal for Watercolor Step 1 was to introduce and gain confidence in using a minimal set of foundational tools, supplies, and techniques, Watercolor Step 2 will both continue this process as well as dig much deeper into color. Color mixing. Color theory. Color. Mmmmmm. Color.

Through the study of the color wheel and key concepts including color contrast, color hue, color value, color temperature, color saturation, color complements, color harmony, and more, we will learn how to control and enhance the visual impact of our paintings. And we’ll have a whole of fun doing it.

Once again, by doing easy step-by-step exercises, and gradually moving into more involved studies we’ll use the skills and knowledge learned in creating a simple yet visually pleasing painting that will have you inspired to experiment, study, and paint your own watercolor creations.

The intended audience for this class is anyone who is familiar with (although not necessarily completely confident in using) a basic set of watercolor tools, supplies, and techniques.
